A Clinical Specialist physiotherapist in palliative care based in Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services – on the Harold’s Cross site, with supervisory roles on the Blackrock and Wicklow campuses as well. My role encompasses audit, research and administration – the latter in my role as deputy manager of the 33-strong department. I also have a clinical caseload which includes the provision of specialist physiotherapy input to patients receiving both inpatient and out patient care, as well as domiciliary interventions for community-dwelling patients, as appropriate.
I qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Nigeria in 1996, Nsukka, Nigeria and have enjoyed clinical exposure in various specialities over the years. I have found my calling in palliative care however. I have worked in this specialty since 2003 and have served in different roles during my time in the organisation including a few terms as Interim Physiotherapy Manager. I also currently chair the Falls Prevention and Working Group of Our Lady ‘s Hospice & Care Services.
