Reflections from Our Inspiring Membership Workshop with Marie Cooper

On June 10th, we had the pleasure of welcoming members to a dynamic and thought-provoking Membership Workshop, led by the brilliant Marie Cooper. With her wealth of experience in clinical leadership and her deep passion for palliative care, Marie brought warmth, wisdom, and inspiration to every moment of the session.

The workshop focused on the evolving role of nursing and the ongoing need to champion the value of nursing across all care settings. Marie drew on her experience at Hospice UK and her current role as Senior Nurse Advisor at St Christopher’s Hospice, where she also leads the Global Palliative Nursing Network (GPNN). Her insights provided a powerful foundation for conversation and reflection.

What truly stood out was the level of engagement from attendees. Members came ready to contribute, bringing thoughtful questions and rich perspectives that elevated the discussion. This sense of shared purpose and mutual respect created a space that felt both empowering and deeply connected.

Two breakout sessions added further depth, offering opportunities for participants to explore key challenges and opportunities in their own practice. These smaller group conversations fostered practical idea-sharing, peer support, and genuine connections—elements that continue to be at the heart of our community.

Feedback from the workshop has been overwhelmingly positive. More than just informative, the session left many feeling energised and affirmed in their work. It was a powerful reminder of our collective commitment to compassionate care, professional growth, and the leadership potential within every nurse.

A heartfelt thank you to Marie for her inspiring leadership, and to all who joined and contributed. We’re excited to carry this energy forward and continue creating spaces where our community can learn, connect, and thrive together.
